Mercado do Bolhão – Fran Balseiro

“I love those corners on sunny days, the huge windows where the sun goes through and where I could see those lights and shadows that I like to photograph in the way that you can see in the image in this article. “

Le métro de Paris – Shimi Cohen

Paris down,
A few steps down the street.
Going down the escalator, moving into a parallel space. Down Paris maintains an underground world of ever-changing time and space;

An Analogue World – Jim Payne

“My interest in photography began when I received Kodak Brownie II when I was 10 or 11 years old. As a child I couldn’t afford much film or developing, but the curiosity remained. As a graduating high school student, I borrowed a 35mm camera to shoot slides to illustrate songs I liked. My hobby continued until I was told at age 23 that I was facing blindness due to diabetes. “

My photography trip to Transylvania – Zohar Ferro

“I stayed at the home of a wonderful old woman who even made hot tea because it was miserably cold outside. The house was beautiful, small, modest, and reminded me of my grand- mother’s house, who also lived in a small village on Mount Carmel in Israel. “

A Winner – Kevin Icabales

“An important appeal of street photography is that it helps me develop integrity — and, at the same time, patience. The discipline inspires reflection on how to be more compassionate and tolerant regarding other people, and the importance of living by example. “

Fran Balseiro I’m 58 years old, I’m from a small town in northern Spain called Viveiro in the province of Lugo, where I live and work. Although I do not dedicate myself professionally to photography, it is a hobby to which I dedicate a lot of time and effort. I like to go unnoticed because if you call too much attention you lose most of the photos, people get upset quickly.

Shimi Cohen I am an aerodynamic engineer, 47 years old, based in Israel, in Kibbuz Givat Brener. Photography has been an important part of my life for the last five years. I roamed the streets taking photographs and developed my skills as a street photographer. These days I am concentrated most on documentary photography in series.

Jim Payne is a social documentary photographer based in Los Angeles, California. He is fascinated by how people interact with the places they inhabit, particularly in their homes and on the streets. He has been capturing images of both for decades. Payne grew up in the midwestern United States, he was born and raised near Chicago, IL. He attended Southern Illinois University where he earned a degree in Cinema and Photography. His work on these topics is ongoing. ph © Vern Evans

Zohar Ferro I am 44 years old, live in a small village in northern Israel called Dali’at el Carmel. I am divorced and the father of a charming kid who is now 14 years old. I started my photography career about 10 years ago. Since then I have traveled to many places in the world and collected many stories and pictures.

Kevin Icabales My complete name is Kevin Cliff P. Icabales, my friends call me Kevin or Kets. I was born in Manila, Philippines. I’m 28.
Currently a real estate photographer by profession and at the same time a street photographer.

Judith Rodriguez: People from Wilson

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have always been attracted to art and humanities. I went to University and graduated as a psycho- analyst. Meanwhile I always went to as many art exhibitions as I could and also took up Literature at University. Then, one day, after a trip around Europe, I was so very upset, but realized I did not want to lose the eyes that had been amazed by all those wonderful bridges, little streets, people. I understood it was not about the place, but the eyes, the way of seeing. There I met photography.

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I have lived most of my life. I have always been attracted by art and humanities.

Ilan Ben Yehuda: From the old station of Tel Aviv to the beach

I am a graphic designer. About 12 years ago, I purchased my first digital camera and decided to take it to the street. My first experience was to photograph the area of Tel Aviv Old Central Bus Station, a terrible place that becomes a refuge for homeless people, drug addicts and later refu- gees from Africa. Time passed and photography at the station became dangerous. I also realized that my photography could not change reality, and I moved slowly to street photography.

About 12 years ago, I purchased my first digital camera and decided to take it to the street.

Corinne Spector: Varanasi and Rajasthan

I was born in 1961 in Morocco, but arrived in Israel at the age of nine months. I spent my childhood in Jaffa yet grew up in Bat Yam. I currently live in Sholam. I was always a storyteller; I am the eldest of six sisters, and I always invented and told them stories. My passion for photography was born a long time ago. It seems I always had a camera but I never really learned to take photos. I always documented my daily life, and that of my family, and with my camera, I wanted to tell stories.

Varanasi is a place where people meet and mingle, cry and laugh together all the time.

Andrea Ratto: Barrio de Lavapiés

I was born in Genova (Italy) in 1976, but I have been based in A Coruña (Spain) since 2005. In recent years I have been drawn to street photography, which to me now means a way of documenting society with a critical view. In 2017 I visited 26 European countries with my camera in search of European society. I published the photobook “Europa” thanks to a crowdfunding campaign in the Kickstarter platform. Now I am working to complete the project about Gentrification in Lavapiés, Madrid.

At the end of 2018, a survey by Time Out magazine designated Madrid’s vibrant and wonderfully diverse Barrio de Lavapiés as the top choice on its list of “50 Coolest Neighborhoods in the World,” after surveying over 15,000 people.

Eric Strijbos : Street, architecture and space

Dutch book translator, travel writer and photographer who likes to explore the streets, public spaces and any built environment wherever he goes, but mostly in his native Amsterdam.

Three Styles - One Exhibition

From May 14 to May 19, works by Eric Strijbos, Frans van Bragt and Gerda van Ekris will be on show in Galerie Niek Waterbolk, Schoutenstraat 10, Utrecht, Netherlands. The exhibition’s focus will be the built environment. Eric Strijbos’ work straddles street photography and architecture. His works in the exhibition explore the interaction between museums, their architecture and their visitors, inspired by his work as travel writer and photographer. Frans van Bragt is a web developer and architecture photographer. His series “Utrecht on the Beach” is strange and yet oddly familiar, particularly if you’re from Utrecht as well. Some of his work on Utrecht’s spectacular TivoliVredenburg venue was acquired by the concert hall itself. Gerda van Ekris developed as an architecture photographer working for an architecture agency and travels a lot as well, organising trips for her students and other photographers. She keeps finding views of industrial architecture in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, often with a human touch.

Drie Stijlen – Eén Expositie

Galerie Niek Waterbolk, Schoutenstraat 10, Utrecht Tue–Sun 1-6 PM, Meet and greet Thu 5-7 PM https://www.foto-expositie.eu/expositie/

Robert Bannister : Fashion

The man from Yorkshire does not suffer fools. In fact, he does not seem to suffer at all, and has a love of life that is undisguised.
This is served up with some extraordinary B/W work from his trusty Fuji X-series cameras.

I glanced at my packed camera bag and decided to give it one more check. The bag really is more of a waterproof ‘man bag’ manufactured by Musto, for the more discerning Nautical Photographer. There are pockets for absolutely everything, including laptop and two cameras: Fuji X-100s (set to silent mode). As well as this, a X-T20 with Samyang 12mm prime lens fitted, polarisers for both and plenty of spare batteries. Finally, some spare SD cards, a Manfrotto monopod and mini tripod.

Roberto Di Patrizi: Sensitivity

He started to pursue photography more seriously only in October 2010, when his wife gave him a camera for his birthday.

Sensitivity is a sharp weapon that, when I have not turned it against myself, has helped me to grasp the nuances of every- day life, made of small details, which can transform the ordinary into extraordinary. A look, a smile, a gesture. It is true, we are islands. And every time I sail in this archipelago of souls, I am fascinated by the variety of microclimates. How many main characters in thousands of stories for millions of movies I’ll never see. Galactic travelers on interstellar trains to endless destinations, and beyond. I would like to hug some of them, tell them that it’s all right ... or hear me say it. But it is not possible. So I take a picture of them to take away with me, forever.

Neta Dekel : Life in Jerusalem

Photography has been his passion since he started studying it in the early 1980s when he was 20 years old. In the early years, he has studied in “Camera Obscura” – a well-known photography and art school in Tel Aviv.

I am a street photographer, and the Old City of Jerusalem intrigues me constantly. Going in the small alleys of the historical city, feeling the heart pulse is a unique feeling.

Robert Bannister, Hard Life

I did notice on my return when I downloaded my images and started processing my pictures how most of the frames seemed to be at a distance I contem plated this and wondered if my subconscious had kept me at arm’s length from a scary world, that you know is there, but you would rather just keep it swept under the carpet. Maybe I felt it was a disease and I would be tarnished if I got too close. After all, this is beautiful Yorkshire, the place of my birth, these places to the outside world do not exist.

Thanks to us, the street photographers, people see the real world.

Robert Bannister, the man from Yorkshire does not suffer fools. In fact, he does not seem to suffer at all, and has a love of life that is undisguised. This is served up with some extraordinary B/W work from his trusty Fuji X-series cameras.

Michael Kennedy, Makati Street

Some time ago, I needed to step away from my life and be someone else for a long weekend. I gave myself a “kitchen pass,” and offered a plausible narrative about my solo experience to the one who loves me.

In less than four hours, I was in the back of a taxi riding through the traffic-clogged streets of Manila to a hotel recommended by a friend.
“Boss, this your first time in Manila?” the driver asked.

I dislike small talk with foreign taxi drivers, who often want to run you to a goofy tailor shop, a dubious jewelry store, or a cheap whorehouse.
“Yes,” I said. “This is my first time to Manila.”

“Boss, where we go?”
“The City Garden Hotel in Makati.”
“Boss, that big Red Light District. You gonna have good time there.”
Before I returned home, I knew my friend would be delegated to an outcast for his advice.

Michael Kennedy, is an American photographer, writer, and reconteur who lives in Seoul. Although photography has always been his passport into other worlds, he has also managed to write hundreds of love letters to several women with names that begin with “S”.

Orna Naor, Philippines under a cellophane wrap

Although I travel a lot, and have seen poverty in Cuba, Guatemala, India and more, this journey made me sad and more determined to tell the story of the Filipinos. Someone might see it; someone might have the means and will to do something.

Orna Naor was born in 1960 in Jerusalem; married + 2, residing in Tel Aviv, Israel. Street Photography attracts her especially for its vividness; the people, the dynamics, the activities, the esthetics, the connections and sensitivities.

Elisa Santoro - Salvatore Uccello, Pripyat

The persistent ticking of the dosimeter is a sound and a sensation that we will never forget - along with the deafening silence of Pripyat. No one can forget this experience.

Elisa Santoro (Milan, 1982) developed a strong curiosity and a fervent interest in what concerns not only his city but all that surrounds it thanks to an excellent spirit of observation

Salvatore Uccello (Milano, 1974) always fascinated by technology, discovered a method that combines art and pragmatism, thus managing to communicate emotions and feelings otherwise unexpressed, approach- ing photography fifteen years ago
